We were recently gifted with a second batch of used guitar strings from Rock band Collective Soul, including strings from lead guitarist Joel Kosche. Many thanks to the band for the donation.
We created about 25 items from the strings, and auctioned them off as we have done with the other strings from other bands, and the fans were extremely generous yet again.
We were able to raise with their help, $500. We and the fans jointly decided to donate the money to Hurricane Sandy relief, but wanted to give it to a grass-roots, on the ground entity that would use it for the best available use, preferably in lower Jersey which was hardest hit. It took us about 2 weeks to find someone to send the proceeds to… and we eventually decided on the local Salvation Army which was working closely with a large church (which housed Occupy Sandy volunteers).
They were thrilled with our donation esp as it came from all the fans of the band and not just one person, and sent us a thank you letter.
All in all it was an amazing few weeks.. many thanks to the Fans of the band, to the band and to the band’s tech for setting things up for us. More to come! soon..
