Year end Review for a tumultuous 2021

year end review As another year comes to an end, we want to report on our giving for 2021.

With Covid around for yet another year, and most people strapped for spare cash (rightfully so as so many lost jobs or were regulated to part time employment only), it was a lot more difficult for people to donate to any charity.

We have a lot of great supporters though – and we couldn’t continue to do this without you all.

January saw us being shared on Twitter by the one and only Dee Snider of Twisted Sister! He put a call out to his rock friends for donations to our cause, and Alex Skolnick of Testament, took up the challenge.

By March, Alex had sent us his strings and we had finished working with the first batch, raising $745 which enabled us to do some good things.

Thanks to strings from Tom Cochrane and Sam Roberts Band still in stock,  April and Easter enabled us to send $80 to Union Gospel Mission, which helped provide over 20 take-out meals to those in need in Downtown Vancouver.

In August, we sent off the last 3 strings donated by Big Sugar a few years ago, and were able to donate to education and emergency food via World Vision online gift catalog.

In September, we had more strings from Alex Skolnick leave for new homes, which enabled us to send $145 to World Vision for clean water fund among other good item – we polled our Twitter supporters and put the money where they wanted it 😉 Very cool.

We rounded out the year at Christmas with a donation to the Union Gospel Mission for Christmas dinner.

The year didn’t see as much money donated as we have had in previous years, but like we tell anyone that will listen, even $5 can help someone – so we are grateful for what we were able to do with other’s help. It kinda restored our faith in humanity each time people stepped up to help. We hope that 2022 is a much better year for everyone, both with Covid hopefully going/becoming manageable, and the world in less turmoil than usual. Blessings to all.
