Beirut aid needed desperately

beirut-blast-picture jenanmoussa twitter creditBy now most of you know of the massive explosion that happened in Beirut 4 days ago. The explosion of tons of fertilizer stored at their port caused massive devastation, deaths and injuries, and has left over 300,000 homeless! It has also destroyed the country’s grain supply which was stored in silos at the port.

You can see a video compilation of the explosion and aftermath HERE from Twitter.

Beirut has been in upheaval for some time with the people demonstrating, due to corruption and incompetence of their leaders. Because of this corruption of the existing Government, our Canadian Government is sending aid money directly to trusted Aid Agencies already on the ground there, rather than to the ruling leaders as usually happens. The Aid Agencies include Red Cross, World Vision and others, and our Gov. is matching all donations dollar for dollar, until August 24.

It is our hope that we can sell more guitar strings bracelets (soon) to have our donations matched by the Canadian Gov. and hope that you would consider donating.

The province of Nova Scotia (population of 998,300) raised 1 million dollars! That’s just over $1.00 per person giving. A little goes a long way!
