An amazing thing happened last week on Twitter. On a whim, Comfort Doll Project tweeted singer/artist Dee Snider from the band Twisted Sister 🙂 Dee is prolific on Twitter and has hundreds of thousands of followers, and has liked and tweeted back to us on the odd occasion over the last few months.. so this time we asked if he played guitar, and if yes would he be willing to donate strings.
“there are photos of me ‘with’ guitars but really playing, is an insult to the real guitar players everywhere. I don’t play enough to even pull a guitar out of a case let alone change the strings. But I do appreciate what you are doing so if any celebrity guitarists are reading this (Alex Skolnick, Tom Morello), how about helping them out?”
And a few minutes later, Alex Skolnick (from the band Testament) responded! “Hey absolutely! (and I sure don’t mind you holding a guitar Dee!) I gave Comfort Doll a follow, they can message me and I’ll send some over”
Whoo hoo!!
Testament is often credited as one of the most popular and influential bands of the thrash metal scene, as well as one of the leaders of the second wave of the genre in the late 1980s. They have also been referred to as one of the “big eight” of thrash metal, along with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Overkill and Death Angel (wikipedia). The band has sold over 1.4 million albums in the US and over 14 million copies worldwide!
We are so excited about Alex Skulnick taking time to donate his guitar strings, cant wait!
And Dee Snider also tweeted, “These (bracelets) are effing cool! SERIOUSLY … I want to buy the first Alex you make! Alex is the man, the bracelets are awesome and for a great cause.” You got it Dee!
