Jerry Horton Papa Roach guitar strings – our final results

papa roach comfort doll project Sometimes you just get a feel about something, or about some people.. and Papa Roach is a band we just seemed to meet (online) out of nowhere, by chance.. and over time via Twitter that led to guitarist Jerry Horton  promising us some of his stage-used strings. Our first batch of strings arrived in August 2016 and Jerry sent us 6 sets. (read about it here)

After a few months creating bracelets (which we shipped as far away as Russia and Poland!) we had some good results, and send the proceeds to World Vision. (Read about that here)

Flash forward to 2018 and we did a Skype session with Jerry as part of the band’s Pledge Music campaign, and were able to let him know of the results, and ask for more strings! Of course, he said yes.. and one day a huge box arrived! (read about that here)

There were about 32 sets of strings – 6 to a set, so close to 200 strings! Our first results were prettyjerry horton papa roach guitar strings comfort doll projectincredible.. Jerry Horton posted our post on his Instagram and our phone went crazy. Our total was $1890 and you can read about that here.

Our next batch raised $1245 and we went with some big ticket items like a mobile treatment clinic and protecting child soldiers and street children – check out our blog here.

October, and then January 2019 saw a few more bracelets and earrings sold, and we bought a goat! And a sheep, and a share of a cow.. read here.

In June and July we combined proceeds with another band, The Trews, and provided food and education here.

August and September saw us combine with Sam Roberts Band and be able to provide vocational training – a new item at World Vision! Kids cant learn while feeling hungry so school lunches was also chosen. Check it here and here.

By October 2019 we were almost down to the last strings! Jerry Horton posted a few times for us as did the Papa Roach account (Instagram) and all heck broke loose 😉 Fans really responded and we donated $400 for a mobile medical clinic through World Vision here. We did one final push the week before we were off to see Papa Roach in concert! Literally down to the last 6 strings, and another $650.00 to World Vision for a variety of items including school uniforms and girls hygiene kits. The grand total comes to a staggering $6240.00.
